1993 Steelman El Gato

The Frame

After building the two other El Gato´s (Link), long time no Steelman showed up (at least on my horizon), but then all of a sudden two! The orange El Gato Competiton Pro (did not start the build yet, but see pics below) and this red one - by accident in a discussion with a friend in Vienna - I saw these magic yellow letters in the back of this workshop (he shared a picture). I liked it straight away, hence it had the straight fork in a nice grey chrome and the typical lugs Brent used also for the RayMac. Down side was, it appeared a bit too small, but I thought, maybe with an appropriate stem? Let`s see, but first first, look at the arrival shots in the SFB laboratory.

Parts and Build

The main component possibly making a ride possible for me was the 150mm Salsa stem, which arrived late to the build, I started with this 1 gen 130mm Salsa. The rest of the concept should be a straight Shimano XT 735 mix
